Try scuba diving

Want to give scuba diving a go with High Wycombe Sub Aqua Club (HWSAC)?

We offer Try Dives every Thursday evening at the Wycombe Leisure Centre (LC) with one week’s notice to book.

We rent one half of the LC pool every Thursday evening for members and training, so plenty of room to have a lovely little pootle around under water in a very safe environment.

The Try Dive session starts at around 20:45 and finishes at around 23:00 (exit the pool around 22:15). The Try Dives cost £30 (Jan 2023) which includes entry to the LC and use of all the kit.

We have a minimum age requirement of 12 for Try Dives.

We can do group bookings and in the past we have had Scouts and Girl Guides come down and have a brilliant time. We also offer group booking discounts for ten or more people. We are happy to arrange sessions for school holidays if this helps with the late finish.

We can also provide Try Dive vouchers if you are struggling for a Christmas / Birthday present or just fancy doing something a little bit more adventurous with your partner.

What is involved in a Try Dive?

• Basic swim test for your instructor to gauge how comfortable to are in the water, normally involves swimming around 200m, any stroke, any speed.
• Basic snorkelling and fining action instruction to get you used to the mouth piece and fins.
• A minimum of 30 mins in full scuba gear when we will get you swimming around under water, controlling your own buoyancy and hopefully descending into the 3.5m pit we have at the pool.
• The most important thing is that you are safe and that you enjoy the experience!!.
• At the end you will get a Try Dive certificate to put on your wall.

What to bring?

• Swimming kit.
• T-shirt you don’t mind getting wet.
• A padlock for the lockers.
• Monies for your Try Dive, cash / card / phone preferred although bank transfer to the club account is available.
• 50p cash for the car park
